Light is essential for life, human well-being and the development of science and technology. To highlight its importance, the United Nations declared 2015 as the International Year of Light and for this reason, we are devoting a special edition of Zientziateka to this theme. Three scientists will participate in it, analysing the characteristics of light from three different perspectives. Its physical properties, its role in photosynthesis and the way in which it is perceived by human beings will be explained.

Three professors from the UPV/EHU will take part in this event: Jon Azkargorta, Professor of Physics; Iker Aranjuelo, ‘Ramón y Cajal’ Plant Biology and Ecology Researcher; and Miren Bego Urrutia, Professor of Animal Physiology . This event, entitled “Luz” will take place on 14 December at the Azkuna Zentroa and it will be in Basque.

Zientziateka is a monthly initiative organised by the Chair of Scientific Culture of the UPV/EHU and Azkuna Zentroa to raise awareness of current scientific matters.

Tickets should be collected from the Azkuna Zentroa Information Point. Free entry will be subject to available seating.
