For the project ‘Haircuts by Children’ a group of children from the ‘IES San Adrian BHI’ secondary school will learn how to cut hair, guided by a professional hairdresser. Then, for two days these children will take over and run the Háptica salon, in casco viejo, where they will offer free haircuts to any adults who are prepared to put themselves in their hands.
‘Haircuts by Children’ is a performance about crazy haircuts, and also about power and trust. In this piece the audience is challenged to set their vanity aside, relinquish control, and trust that a child – as one of the leaders of the future, and a capable and responsible citizen – has the creative ability, dexterity and responsibility to command a sharp pair of scissors.
