The Euskal Esperientziak Zientzia Zabalkundean (EEZZ18) conference will gather a broad range of actors involved in the dissemination work on 14 and 15 June at the Gipuzkoa Campus of the UPV/EHU in San Sebastian in order to promote the different scientific communication initiatives launched in the Basque Country and analyse future challenges.

Promoting scientific culture among the general public, and generating their interest in it, are essential tools for building a society capable of reacting responsibly to the main challenges and concerns of the future.

In this context, science dissemination is vital. The number of projects in this field is on the increase, as is the community of institutions and people working on the popularisation of science in the Basque Country.

The event, organised by Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC), the Material Physics Centre (CFM, mixed centre CSIC-UPV/EHU) and the Chair of Scientific Culture of the UPV/EHU, in collaboration with the Basque Government, will involve professionals from the mass media and research institutions, as well as entrepreneurs, teachers and students who, over the course of the two days, will share their experiences in the field of science dissemination.

The meeting will have a full programme of presentations in which different outreach initiatives will be analysed, as well as the importance of media in this environment. The forum will also have a space for the presentation of innovative projects and a posters session, where the audience can exhibit their science popularisation projects.

Likewise, within the framework of the event, an exhibition of scientific illustration has been scheduled, in which the work of students and lecturers of the Postgraduate course in Scientific Illustration of the UPV/EHU will be shown. One of the days of the conference will be dedicated to raising awareness of initiatives which seek to highlight the work of women scientists.

The EEZZ18 meeting will be held at the Centro Carlos Santamaría of the Gipuzkoa Campus, which has seating for 100 people. The registration must be carried out before 15 May at a cost of 50 Euros, and includes all the materials that will be shared out over the two days, admission to all the sessions, and food, snacks and coffee.
