Art and science are two forms of knowledge that seem distant, mainly because of professional specialisation and compartmentalised education. The study of this artificial separation created the stereotype of the two cultures, of sciences and humanities, to refer to this division of knowledge. The reality is that science and art are indeed connected and that no form of knowledge is impervious to another. To mention a few examples: How could a work of plastic art be created without techniques generated by science? How could we interpret the choice of materials?

These and other issues will be dealt with by outstanding professionals: artists, illustrators, philosophers and scientists, who have put the spotlight on that diffuse line linking science with art. The Science & Art season will be conducted under the leadership of Deborah García Bello over four days and will be held on alternate Thursdays in April (6 and 27) and in May (11 and 25) 2017 from 19:00 to 21:00 in the auditorium of the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao.

This activity of the Chair of Scientific Culture of the UPV/EHU is part of the TopARTE programme which commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao.
