SUMMARY:Does social inequality kill in the Basque Country? Yes it does\, and there are figures to prove it
DESCRIPTION:Xehetasunak \n\n\n\n\nData eta ordua:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEgoitza \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoes the socioeconomic status of a place affect the health of the people living there? For many years it has been thought that people in the Basque Country are healthier than those living in other regions in Spain. Research carried out recently concluded that there are also significant differences within our region. The study also proves that the mortality rate in the Basque Country varies substantially from one place to another\, and it is affected amongst other reasons by the socioeconomic status of each area. \n\n\n\nImanol Montoya Arroniz\, Doctor of Statistics from the UPV/EHU\, will cover these issues at a talk & discussion entitled “Does social inequality kill in the Basque Country? Yes it does\, and there are figures to prove it”. The conference will take place on 26 October at Azkuna Zentroa. This conference\, which is part of the Zientziateka programme\, will be in Spanish. \n\n\n\nZientziateka is a monthly initiative organised by the Chair of Scientific Culture of the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU and Azkuna Zentroa to raise awareness of current scientific matters. \n\n\n\nTickets should be collected from the Azkuna Zentroa Information Point.
